Mark De Rosas work is concerned with both mark making and the depth and creation of the canvas surface itself so that it becomes an integral part of the subject and social commentary, speaking of the nature of fame, war and media coverage.

  "The last thing I want to do is merely entertain or produce pretty wallpaper. I'm not chasing an ideal perfection.I want the viewer to see the struggle, the passion, the care and feeling in the paintings. The work reflects the nature of how it is created, the drips, tears, rips, splashes sprays, ripped flyer's and torn posters, the burnt , used and abused materials all coming together to form a language that speaks volumes of the paintings very own history."                                           

De Rosa is inspired by his immediate urban environment, by politics, the media, music and the written word. He is  interested in creating work which shows a love of mixed media and the found object.
